Universal Studios

Since we’ve been in Los Angeles, I’ve been dying to visit Universal Studios. Like everything here, the tickets are pretty expensive, so I waited until our friend Christin came to visit us.

Last week, the time finally came and we visited Universal Studios in Hollywood together. It was a Monday and we got there around 10:15. We were lucky that there was an Uber/plane parking lot near the entrance. There were more people than I expected for a Monday, and I noticed that many people were dressed up in the Hogwarts robe from Harry Potter.

We checked the website beforehand, but it wasn’t easy to gauge whether or not we could do the whole park in one day. Two things we really wanted to do were: visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and take a studio tour.

Wizarding World of Harry Potter

After entering the magical world of Universal Studios ;), we headed straight to the Harry Potter world. And what can I say, it was amazing. I think I can speak for my whole generation that grew up with Harry Potter, it’s awesome to stroll through the stores of Hogsmead. You can find everything you’ve only seen in the books or the movies. Chocolate frogs, Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, butterbeer and so much more. It was so much fun! Of course, we also took a flight on the Hippogriff (waiting in line for 30 minutes for maybe 1 minute flight, but it was still awesome).

And after the Forbidden Journey through Hogwarts, we had really wobbly knees. Christin had a butterbeer (what the heck is that cute) and you can hear the voice of Moaning Myrtle in the toilets. Absolutely awesome. After that experience, it was worth the price.

After visiting Harry Potter World, we headed to the streetcars for the Studio Tour.

They definitely know how to make a studio tour interesting. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much. I thought you sit in this streetcar and see some halls and scenery. And yes, that’s true. We saw a little bit of Europe and a scene that looks like New York. But they also show us how they deal with rain and floods in a controlled way. We were there live when a subway tunnel flooded and we almost got run over by a truck. We saw scenes from Fast and the Furious and King Kong in 4D.

All in all, it was a great experience and I really recommend you take a studio tour when you are at Universal Studios.

The Simpson’s & Jurassic World

After the tour, we made our way back to Springfield. Yes, I am a huge Simpson’s fan 😀 and Simpson World was just as awesome as I expected it to be. We had lunch at Krusty’s Burger, they have Duff beer (which is actually a soda), insanely large donuts, and more. Unfortunately, the line for Krustyland was too long (estimated wait time about 70 minutes), so we went to Jurassic World.

The Jurassic ride is a water ride, and I had a feeling it was going to be pretty downhill at the end. But Christin really wanted to go on this ride, so I was game. As we approached our train car, we realized that we would be sitting in the front row on the side. Ahhh, not our favorite seats, but we waited too long to end up backing out. In the train car, Christin said she didn’t like getting wet…well, by then it was too late 😀 Long story short, we got really wet! And it was a lot of fun! I would definitely do it again.

After so much excitement, we took a break and spent the rest of the day browsing the stores and walking the streets of this little piece of Hollywood.

We had a blast! Very happy and tired, we took a lfyt a few minutes before the studios closed.
