Concerts

If you really like to go out, especially in the evening, I don’t think there is a better place than LA. You have so many options every day that sometimes you can’t decide what you’d rather do. In the summer, there are many free concerts in many cities within Los Angeles, so you can be out every night.

This week, our neighbor invited us to go to a concert with her at the Skirball Cultural Center. We had never heard of it before, nor did we know the musician who would be playing that night.

But we were there, and we are very glad we accepted. Our neighbor described the Skirball as a hidden jewel, and that definitely describes it very well. Very close to The Getty and surrounded by beautiful nature is the Skirball Cultural Center.

It is not only an open-air stage, but also a place to meet and gather, where any stranger is welcome. It is inspired by the American ideals of democracy and freedom, and also hosts a variety of events and exhibitions. The Skirball is a non-profit organization funded solely by donations, which allows us to attend concerts free of charge. What a great gesture. So we enjoyed a fantastic concert by Rocky Dawuni from Ghana in a very relaxed atmosphere overlooking the hills.

We can really recommend you check out the Skirball schedule if you’re in LA, and you can combine it with a day at the Getty, which is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.

This was our first free concert of the week. The next one followed a day later. We were lucky enough to get tickets to see Daddy Yankee at the Kia Forum in Inglewood. Unfortunately, Stefan’s colleague couldn’t make it to the concert and gave us the tickets for free!

Oh my gosh, I couldn’t believe it. Stefan and I super enjoy listening to Reggeaton and Stefan felt right back to his time in Cuba. So yesterday we were felt as the only non-Spanish speaking people in the Kia Forum. The stage show and atmosphere were absolutely stunning and Daddy Yankee gave it his all for two hours.

Now we start slightly exhausted but absolutely grateful into the weekend, and are already excited about what might spontaneously arise next week 😀
